I have seen this before and overcome it in different ways, but I have an image that’s got a few control points in the bottom left that are heavily spilling into areas that are well outside the mask. The overlay shows where the area of operation should be but the adjustments are being made in other areas that are not subject to the control points.
I restarted the application to “reset”, but it’s still happening. Haven’t tried to restart PC as yet.
I attach the image with masks shown and you can see the amount of red selected area in the further bank above the control points which are well out of their sphere of influence.
I can pull the masks closer with the chrominance and luminance sliders, but why is it happening to areas that are not even close to the control points?
Control Points “blur” to a certain extent to avoid abrupt masking. That is, they inherently lack a sharp edge that you can adjust with the Chroma and Luma sliders. Using so many Control Points close together tends to increase the “blur.”
To determine what’s necessary and what’s superfluous, create a Virtual Copy of your image and delete the Control Points one by one. This will give you a better idea of the extent of the change. Also setting the mask to black and white may make it easier to see. … And you can try using a Control Line instead.
If you need more detailed instructions, please post the image with the corresponding DOP file. As a new forum user, this isn’t possible, but you can use a service provider like Dropbox or else.
