Continuous issues with Custom Folder output

Hello all…

I’m new to DXO Pure RAW 5, and have been using it for a month or so now. I’m loving the output on those files, however, there is one issue that I cannot seem to overcome.

This issue involves saving (directing) converted files to new custom folders.

Here is my issue and I’ll try to catalogue it as sequential and logical as I can:

  1. I shoot with a dozen or so digital cameras and catalogue all of my images by camera type, date, and type of event.
  2. With every photo shoot, I’ll create a new custom folder - often identifed as “DXO converted files,” with the regular raw files being in a separate folder.
  3. When I bring up DXO Raw, I’ll add the images I want, and immediately I’ll go to set up the new custom folder.
  4. Now here is where it gets tricky. I’ll also make sure that there are no other files in my Queue and Lightbox windows. I’ll then begin the conversion process.
  5. What’s uncanny is that each and every time, “only” the first image being processed will wind up in the new custom folder that I designated - however, the remainder of the images will be placed in the previous folder (i.e. other brand camera) that I used the last time around.
  6. This has been driving me batty, and I’ve been placing this information on various 3rd party forums involving retouching - and nobody has a clue as to what is happening.

So what I’ve done - over a dozen times - is to ensure (again) that all other images have been cleared from the queue and also Lightbox, and then I’ll try again, adding the new images and making sure I have the correct custom folder set.

But then it starts this same scenario - that is, it will save only the very first image into that new custom folder, and like magic, the remainder are placed in previous folders.

Also, please note - I don’t have any folders marked as favorites or preferred.

Now if I allow Pure Raw to just convert and save the images in the default folder where I imported the images from, that is not an issue as all images will be saved there.

It is only when I try to save the images to a separate, custom folder, does the program begin (again, saving only 1 image there, with the resultant files being saved to a previously used custom folder).

Can anybody help, or is this a software glitch?

My PC is a Windows 11 machine with 128 Gigs of RAM. I have no other issues on this PC at all. I have the latest version of DXO Pure RAW installed (version 5.70)

Thanks for listening…

Welcome to the forum, @benherrmann

This here is a user-to-user forum and while DxO might look at posts, they hardly ever write things here.

Export target folder(s) and name(s) are two weak(er) points of PureRAW and there is not much we can do about it … but deal with what we have.

I propose you open a ticket at support.dxo.com and report your issue (one per ticket). So far, DxO has answered tickets, although some of the answers were so-so and reaction times varying from same day to same month… or so.

And while you don’t hold your breath for DxO’s answer to arrive, you best browse the forum for similar posts from other Win-users (I’m on Mac). You might find a workaround or even a solution.

For the time being, just export to where PR takes you and manually move the stuff to where you want it. Terribly obnoxious, I admit, but it’s maybe less irritating than getting annoyed each time you have to collect your output from several places.

Thanks - and yes, I opened a ticket (I guess I did) last night, so I’ll wait and see what happens. But I suppose it doesn’t hurt to post on various forums also, because you never know who else may have had the same issue and found a fix.
