Palettes can only be moved when you’re in the “Advanced” workspace.
If you’re using the “Standard” workspace – or even a custom workspace that was not based on Advanced – dragging palettes doesn’t work at all. Even saved user layouts seem to be locked by default.
I tested this several times. The difference is consistent and easy to reproduce. It looks like DxO internally treats “Advanced” as a modifiable workspace, while others are fixed, even if they’re custom.
Tip for anyone with the same issue:
→ Load the “Advanced” workspace, arrange your palettes however you like, then go to “Save workspace as…” and save it. From then on, dragging and docking works fine.
Hope this helps others – took me a while to figure it out!

Hi everyone,
just wanted to confirm that I’m experiencing the same issue. I’m using DxO PhotoLab 8 Elite Edition, and I can only move palettes when the Advanced Workspace is active. In all other workspaces – including my own custom ones – the palettes seem to be locked in place, and I can’t rearrange them.
Would be great to know if this is by design or a bug.
Thanks to everyone here for sharing their experiences!
