Bug Retouch for negative film

Hi DxO’s Staff !

I have found a bug for Retouch when I work on negative scan from 135 film.

(repro : D850 + AF-D 105 MicroNikkor - Ilford HP5+)

In this example, you can see what happen with the post (repair mode or duplicate mode).

I add my settings. If you need to test, I can send you my RAW or dop files.

Thanks for your help.

.

In the meantime…

Retouching gradients as invisibly as possible is always difficult, especially with high contrast and accentuated film grain.

To simplify the retouching process, I would try working with a standard image that has lower contrast. Reproducing HP5+ film doesn’t make things any easier.

Then, I would export the result as a 16-bit TIFF to obtain a standard positive *) and then apply film characteristics and / or grain, contrast, ClearViewPlus, etc. – This should help you achieve better retouching.

*) note that I’m still on FP 7

Thanks a lot for the advice. I have send this request to DxO’s support.

We’ll see if there is a way to correct this bug.
