Hi,
i installed V8 which i’ve purchased. As DXO installs parallel i now have two versions running. Because my projects from V6 were missing in V8, i created a DB-Backup from V6 and imported this to V8. Then i had my projects in V8 back.
But: now there is a big mess in the database. I have from every image a virtual copy, in some folders i have 4 virtual copies of the image. I did not create these virtual copies.
My images are on Drive D:
i accessed some folders with the new version 8, which i had used in V6
they are not running at the same time.
Now i see duplicates (virtual copies) in every folder. Even if i restore the DB from V6 before the update, i have the issue.
How to fix this issue ?
In PL8 Library view, select a an empty folder (no images, no subfolders)
Open the PL8 settings and note the path to the database and cache files
Set PL8 to not automatically import sidecar files, then close the settings
Quit PL8 (quit PL6 if it is running)
Delete the PL8 database and the cache files
Open PL8
From the menu, restore the PL6 database - no need for a separate backup - and wait until PL8 has restarted
search for an image that had an unwanted VC and see if you get just one image or virtual copies too.
Restart PL8
select a folder with images and see if things work as expected. If they don’t, create a support ticket
Tell us if things worked or not
Note that I work with macOS and that on Windows, things can be different…and that the procedure above is based on a few assumptions but should still work imo.
ok, i found the setting and tried it.
I still had the virutal copies in some folders (which i accessed with both versions. So i deleted them manually and the rest seems to be ok now.
Can i activate the setting for automatic loading of the .dop files again ?
You can test this by manually importing the .dop sidecars of a few test images and decide once you see what happens upon import… As a Mac user, I cannot be sure about PhotoLab on Windows. and will therefore not give you a yes or a no.
