Best procedure for fixing facial tones

Noob here. This is a rough crop from a jpeg taken with a Panasonic TZ5 in 2012. Spectacular, except my friend’s fair skin has been tonally flattened by the sunshine. How can I improve on that tonality?

And while we are at it, what is the best way to fix her turkey neck?

PRO TIP: never tell your partner that you “fixed” her neck.

Hi Calvin.

I don’t do a lot of portrait work but the little I have done requires masking the face followed by using the white balance slider (and occasionally the tone and HSL tool but with very little adjustments). The best for improving skin texture is to use the micro contrast slider to reduce the emphasis on skin blemish and curves. The odd use of the heal tool also works but your partners skin won’t need that.

Hopefully somebody with more portrait experience will add something here.

Good luck
