Best image sizes to use in Showkase gallery

Showkase, the software I use on my photography website, allows each image hosted by the gallery to reside in three jpg files, each in different sizes. It then selects which size photo to use based on the target device. I never know exactly which one it chooses to use, as that is beyond my control.

Currently I export using a resizing mode (longest side) of 800 pixels for small devices (e.g. mobile phones), 1280 pixels for medium sized devices (e.g. tablets), and 1920 pixels for large devices (e.g. monitors). From my testing this seems to work well, but I’m interested in getting thoughts on whether these are still the best choices based on current hardware capabilities.

It has been a long time since this software was updated. However, I still like the software and I’m not looking to change.

Thanks,
Brian

I think your current settings are reasonable.

Might I suggest getting some statistics from your hosting company (or Google Analytics). They may be able to provide details on the screen resolutions of your visitors which would allow you to tailor your sizes based on empirical data.

Good advice, @LVS. Thanks for your reply.
