Hi, I trialed PL9 and was informed my current tower needs to be replaced in order to support PL. I currently use Adobe LTC and PS without any issues.
It must be nearing a new release of PL in the fall. With that in mind, I am researching a new Windows system. I don’t want to spend money on a new system and then get told it is not good enough.
Does anyone have clues on what is coming or any system recommendations?
I have most had Intel processors and Nvidia gpus. I’m not opposed to AMD, but need help there. My current CPU in Intel i9 and I was told to get and i7. It pretty confusing. Please help. Thanks very much!
Another thing to consider. PL10 is likely to be released sometime in September. If you were to buy PL9 now, the upgrade to PL10 would not be free.
Given that, you might want to consider investing in new hardware now (hardware that, as already been said, meets the recommended specs for PL9). Then waiting until PL 10 is released so you can run the PL10 trial on your new machine and check everything is OK before you actually buy PL.
I did purchase a new machine with Intel Ultra 9, 32GB, and Nvidia RTX 5080 w/16GB. It’s the 1st time my 4K BenQ monitor looked so good. lol
I’m currently trialing PL 10. Everything is working great! Oddly, even with new system and PL hesitates intermittently. Once I found my way around the interface and how to use some of the tools, I like what I see. It would be nice if the system performance was improved. Adobe went through performance issues on and off over the years and they unofficially admitted their software (PS & LRC) had bloat issues. Over time they clean out the routines no longer used and optimize the software. Currently, Adobe runs like a dream on the new system so if I purchase PL 10, I will keep Adobe for one more year.
The forums have been great, very helpful. I like many of the features of PL and will probably purchase after the trial. The learning videos are also very helpful and saved time as I was getting started.
