Batch Exporting Freezes on Initial Start

Hellloooo.

So I’ve been running into quite an issue regarding exporting. Batch Exporting a large number of photos causes the program to pretty much go into a “Not Responding” state. This happens after hitting the Export button (after selecting location, etc).

I’m dumbfounded because when I first started using DXO, I didn’t have this problem. I’ve just been dealing with it since DXO 7 and it started to occur around the later half of DXO 8.

For context, my work revolves exporting around 4000+ photos. Batch Exporting around 800 photos seems to be acceptable but it still freezes on initial start, for like 20mins before it actually “starts” exporting. Once in a blue moon, I’ll be able to get the export to start if I do my typical amount that I normally do and the Export goes smoothly and rather quickly.

All of this to say, when the export starts, my PC pretty much exports with ease. I have a pretty decent PC. (I export to different internal SSDs, nothing seems to help).

CPU: Intel 14900K
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4090
RAM: 64GB

Just curious if anyone has any idea or suggestions to maybe resolve this issue. If I can just get the export to start, I’d be happy.

Thanks!

“Not responding” i think may not valid message from Windows. May good idea the files created or not in the meantime. In the forum it was discussion about “Not respondig” a while ago (may around 6 months ago?) - in the case of hundred (or thousand) of photos (open folder, create Virtual copies, Export), and also some related “Shared memory” usage (what is maximum half of the system memory, in your case 32GB). May good idea to check thru the forum about “not responding”. With PL9 i does JPG export (without NR, but some basic exposure, contrast, geometry) for preview reasons, and around 500 photo export runs just fine.

I’ll check it out but DXO freezes when you have the “Not Responding” note pop up. Clicking anywhere on DXO after that will give you a notice to end task or wait for a response.

But yeah, with PL9, if I do batches of 300, it works perfectly fine. It’s definitely something to do with the bigger “batch” exports.

Thanks though! I’ll check out the Not Responding threads!
