B&W Film & Digital Film?

So I’m relatively new to all this. Mainly do B&W - pre PL I was using LrC and SEFX.

Now I’ve PL and FP (it’s taken a while to get SEFX out of the system) - couple of maybe newbie questions:

  • List item is everything in FP currently within PL7?

  • List item When choosing rendering Type why do the options show Black & White Film and also Digital Film - DxO FilmPack?

To get the full benefit of FilmPack do you always have to ensure your rendering is Digital Film - DxO FilmPack?

I sometimes think I’m going around in circles as still getting familiar and a workflow bedded in.

Cheers
Andy

Yes.

The film option is for emulations of real negative films. The digital film option is for emulations of cameras that provide their own emulations.

Personally, I never use the digital emulations. Coming from an LF photography background, I’d rather use “real film”. My personal favourite is Fuji Acros Neopan 100.

As I just explained, definitely not.

Yup, it can take time. Don’t forget to explore the colour filters that are provided. For example, the red filter is great for enhancing skies by darkening the blue.

I do a lot of B&W, so just ask if you’re not sure

Thanks Joanna - not sure I entirely understand this:

The digital film option is for emulations of cameras that provide their own emulations.

So is this why, for example, Acros appears in both as Fuji has its own in-camera variant?

Cool about the filters too :+1:
