Alternative LR Plugin for PR import

I can confirm that when using File>Plug-in extras>Process with DxO… I remain in the develop module after the processing has completed.

Thanks. I’ve tried that, same result…

LR brings me to the Import screen… Weird!

Ok. I think I figured it out, but it has nothing todo with any plugin

In PR4 there is an option to export the result after processing. I think it’s close to the bottom of all settings in the right panel of PR. You probably selected “Export to Lightroom” or so. You should not select any export here, the LR plugins take care of that.

UPDATE: I made a second upload where I “fixed” the photo ai generated DNG by just changing the embedded profile name using the tiffset tool as described earlier. This renders noticably different than the actual photo ai version in LR and closer to the original file (albeit the white balance is still off)

You are the best! That was the problem! Thank you Thomas!

Hello Thomas, I have been using your plugin and it has been working wonderfully well. I am sure you will hear this from others in the coming days regarding the release of PureRaw v5. unfortunately the lr-pristine plugin does not work with the new v5. :disappointed: . It is incomprehesible to me why DxO chooses to ignore the many requests to make thier interface allow users to simpley turn off the collection workflow detour.

I am asking if it is possible to please add support in the pristine import plugin for v5?

Hello Thomas,

a great plugin and desperately needed again for PR v5.

Keep up your good work and thank you very much for making PureRaw better usable.

As some of you had already figured out, supporting v5 was really easy. Just changing v4 to v5 did the trick.

The latest release now has support for v5. You have to change the version in the plugin manager.

Also if you just installed PR v5, don’t forget to disable DXO’s import plugin again and to restart lightroom after that.

Happy denoising!

Thank you again for this great improvement to the DxO file handling process. Your work should be recognized and compensated. How can I show my appreciation?

Fantastic! Thank you so much for making Pure Raw a usable product (that DXO refused to do in spite of numerous requests). I do have one question though. Would it be possible to have the plugin support both PR4 and PR5 without making the switch? That would be really useful for testing PR4 and against various settings of PR5 without having to change the selection of which version and restart LR.

PS I kind of hate to even ask this question given your very generous support of this fabulous plugin!!!

I am not a coder so I can’t say if this is possible, but it sounds like a good idea. Speaking only from a logical perspective it would require the lr-pristine plugin to detect the version and name of the export plugin or PureRaw software and automatically populate that name in the import plugin instead of manually changing it in the lightroom plugin interface. Another possibility would be to use a wildcard character instead of the version number???

I’ve released a new version that now allows setting the pureraw version to “any”. You can set this in LR’s plugin manager where you’d set the DXO version. The plugin will basically loop over all supported versions and then run the same logic as before.

I’ve tested it with PR4 and PR5.

Thanks!!! Very useful for testing purchases when deciding whether to purchase PR5.

Installed and working - finally someone was able to do what other software does but dxo never managed to. I only have one comment, once imported, the photo in LR shows an exclamation mark on its upper right corner, showing “Error writing metadata”. If I click on it, and then click on “Retry Metadata Export”, the mark goes away and everything seems back to normal. Just a tiny nuisance for the dev’s knowledge. Many thanks for sharing this great plugin!

Hmm… The plugin doesn’t do anything special with metadata. Do you have writing XMP files and/or updating DNG embedded metadata enabled in lightroom (Catalog settings > Metadata)?

Does this also happen with Dxo’s own import plugin?

TBH. I have random “metadata export failed” all over my catalog (not only for PR files) and I never figured out why

No, I don’t have write to XMP or write metadata into DNG enabled. This doesn’t happen with the DXO plugins, either v4 or v5. No worries, I definetely prefer this to the default behaviour. Thanks!
