NIK Extention menu Fails to open by starting PS2025, further more, when click on Color Efex Pro 4 in the Filter menu I get this message:
Nik Collection detected an unusual error on your configuration which could cause your effect to not be applied on your image.
The error persist even after the given solution (To solve the issue, please, restart or close and restart Nik Selective Tool application from File->Automate->Nik Selective Tool 2 or restart Photoshop.
If it does not help and you see the error again, please, contact Customers support)
Nik 4.3.6 either MAC or Windows work with “Adobe Photoshop CC 2020 through 2022” according to dxo.
on the other hand, Nik 5-6 and 7 work with “Adobe Photoshop 2023, 2024”, so where does support fail for 2025?
Hmmm… V4.3.6 was working just fine with Adobe2024 until the (automatic) update (to 2025) from Adobe, Which I turned off now… So that means I was lucky and must now upgrade to v7….
Note that this info is not necessarily a compatibility info, but rather a support info. Often, a DxO app will run on/with something that is out of the green zone, but end of support life strikes after 3 years/versions/upgrades - no matter if the app will still work or not.
Further on, I work with ESET security. Did stop all the functions to look if there is something else whats causing the error, there was no better situation.
It should install and/or update straightforward in my opnion
Neither from The Automate menu or from the filter menu.
There is no sign or error after clicking on NIK Collection 7 Palette (Automate menu)
The screendump comes on screen after I clicked one of the app from the collection under the Filter menu.
In the meantime, I have taken some steps to investigate why Nik Collection 4 suddenly no longer works.
My current environment is:
macOS: Sequoia 15.0.1
Adobe Photoshop 26.0.0 release
Nik Collection 4 + License
Nik Collection 7 Trail
I expect that Collection v4.3.6 no longer worked after I implemented the last macOS update, but I can no longer determine that because the problem—in my opinion—arose after the automatic update of Adobe Photoshop from v25.2 to v26.0.0!
According to @platypus’s overview, Collection v4.3.6 should no longer work after I switched to macOS Ventura. Still, I can confirm that it also worked under Sequoia.
Then, I made the wrong assumption that perhaps due to the automatic update of Adobe Photoshop, the Collection v4.3.6 software was no longer available. So, I uninstalled both Collection v4.3.6 and Photoshop from my Mac. After a reboot of the Mac, a fresh installation of Photoshop 2025 (v26.0.0) was done. Then I installed Nik Collection 7 with the idea that it works under macOS Sequoia 15. I (still) have a trial version because I want to be sure it works before I upgrade. Unfortunately, I must report that Nik Collection 7 also does not work with Photoshop 2025 (v26.0.0) on my machine! I can confirm that Nik4.3.6 and Nik Collection 7 work in standalone mode under macOS Sequoia 15!!
Concretely, both Nik Collection v4.3.6 and Nik Collection 7 work under macOS Sequoia 15. I work 95% only with Color Efex Pro4 and have only performed the above research with this plugin. To use Color Efex Pro4 from Photoshop 2025 v26.0.0, the separate plugin does not work, and Nik Selective Tool 2 also does not want to start.
After clicking on Nik Selective Tool 2 via the automated menu in Photoshop, nothing happens. There is no message or screen with information.
When I click on Color Efex Pro4 via the filter menu, I get the same message from both Nik4.3.6 and Nik Collection 7.
For the moment, I will work with Nik Collection 4.3.6 in standalone mode. Perhaps more information will soon be available (in the short term) that can help me solve this issue.
So I did make a support request and received a reaction:

"Greetings,
We are currently working on compatibility between our software and Photoshop 2025. However, Nik Collection 4 will not be compatible with that version; our apologies.

So thats ok by me, now I (we all) only have to wait….
I am unable to keep tickets open indefinitely, however, we will update our compatibility chart with “Adobe Photoshop 2025” when supported:

So, for me it ends now. Keep working with the Nik Collection 4.3.6 under macOS Sequoia 15. I, as long as it works from within Adobe Photoshop 2025 v26.0. And if it in the meantime stops working, I will start it as standalone.
Let’s hope I get informed that Nik Collection 7 is working within Photoshop 2025 vXX!
