Photoshop and Lightroom are long gone from my Mac, but I thought I would share a few images from that time before getting into DXO 9.7 which I decided to purchase because I still have my camera equipment. However, my preferred pastime is oil painting.
That’s the sort of imagery where I kinda wonder how you did it, but then realise I’d rather not know. I can just enjoy the result.
Hi zkarj,
In some cases, “not knowing” results in a mystery, and it can be a good thing to have mysteries in Life.
Beatiful work, thanks for sharing.
And, I agree, it’s better not knowing how you did it, so the magic remains magic
Thanks Carlos
. DXO PL is slowly pushing me back into photography, however I still dearly miss Photoshop: it’s a shame they lost their magic for me when they became subscription greedy. ![]()
If you haven’t already, check out Affinity. It’s free these days and a pretty decent competitor to Photoshop. I was a Photoshop user (though not super experienced) for a bunch of years and ended up loving Affinity (originally Affinity Photo). My brother is a professional graphic designer who has lived in Photoshop for decades and he has recently given that up and has “worked out most things” in Affinity.
Thanks for that, zkarj. I just finished downloading Affinity. I am a bit suspicious of this free package at the present time, so what their long-term reasons for offering all for free remains to be seen. However, I will give it a run-around with Photoshop still lurking in the back of my mind.
Lots of people are. The CEO of Canva has made a video stating how they can do this, why they are doing this, and that they will continue to do it.
It’s everyone’s choice whether to believe any of it. But… turning down a free and very good app because of what might become. Well… DxO might have a disastrous event that causes them to fold and the next release of macOS/Windows breaks the latest version and you’re up the creek without a paddle.
Carpe diem!
