Allan was born in Southampton, UK, quite a long time ago. He has been taking and developing photographs since he was a teenager, and looking back on them, they are somewhat mediocre.

When he turned forty, he decided to get a degree in Biology, despite never having studied biology or chemistry. He gained a first-class BSc (hons) with his research project:

Filamentous organisms in the hindguts of the Diplopoda

Cylindroiulus londinensis

Yep honestly! That’s what it was called.

Allan took early retirement from the MOD, moved to Orkney and tried farming, something he decided he wasn’t very good at.

He now lives in Devon and is concentrating on photography, writing and trying to get his work published.
