Why do I need FP for luminosity mask? Explain it to me

While I agree that luminosity masks should be in PL and not FP, I think the forum is getting a bit full of repetitive complaints about it:

Why is there still no Luminosity Mask in PL8?

The luminosity mask is a useful tool that s available on other image/raw editing apps like Luminar, ON1 PhotoRAW and Affinity Photo, but, a glaring omission on PL8. To gain access to it you need to buy the Film Pack so it makes Luminance Masking an expensive option if you have no need for FP7. GS

Add luminosity masking to dxo photolab

add luminosity masking to dxo photolab. I have no reason to buy dxo filmpack ($139) other than to get luminosity masking, which should instead be a feature of dxo’s main image processing software

Why no Luminosity Masking in PL7?

Having watched this video by Robin Whalley DxOs Powerful Luminosity Masking Feature - YouTube I can see how useful the Luminosity Masking could be to those that don’t own FP7. Not everyone wishes to emulate the film emulsions but this feature is missing from PL7 and to me is a glaring hole in the offer of PL7’s functionality. No doubt it would be added in PL8…but why not now in PL7? TIA

Unfair pricing Policy

After purchasing several versions of PL suite, I now own latest version of all components except fimpack which is still v6. I realized luminosity masks, which would logically be a part of the core editing functions of PL7 are only available if you also purchase filmpack. I can’t see any link between film simulation offered by filmpack and luminosity masks, so the only reason I can conceive for this link is to add a 129€ purchase in order to access full functionality (please, no template reply …

Yes sadly we must buy another licence to get this feature that should have been included into Photolab since its coming. FilmPack is a preset pack not the main retouching software…

Photolab a Money Trap? Absurt DXO pricing!

Luminosity masks (which are not present in DPL 6) require a FilmPack license. I’m just wondering why they couldn’t just copy the code of this feature from FilmPack to Photolab. I can’t believe that it’s just a way to sell more FilmPack licenses. This is why I advocate for a unique product : things are becoming very messy.

They went to great lengths to try to impose filmpack, notably by incorporating the luminosity mask requested by photolab users for photolab. Now this price update specificity. Is Filmpack an other DxO one ?
