Fantastic video? Not so sure about that…without first defining a few cornerstones.
- I find most statements about image quality to be subjective, which is okay as long as we take them for what they are: Expression of personal preference.
- As for cost: Yearly upgrades (as in Lr and C1) are about USD 250 for PL, FP and VP and if we’d accept to upgrade FP and VP bi-annually, we’d still be at about USD 185, if DxO sticks to upgrade discounts for version n-1 and to not provide paid upgrades annually.
Anyways, one can use what one likes best or gets the job done. As for comparing measurable units (like cost), we’d better compare Aardvarks to Aardvarks. Or as we used to say years ago: “What’s the difference between a crow? Both legs are equally long, specially the left one!”

I thought the video was ok. I’ve already had two interactions with Chris re: the pricing for Luminar. It’s simply incorrect.
He freely admits he has a bias against AI and what he calls “template based editing.” Which is all fair. But the pricing stuff just doesn’t hold water.
