I won’t be upgrading. I also found the upgrade price expensive. I have 9 let’s see what 11 brings … ( New user interface, less laggy sliders, smaller memory requirements)
DxO offers more incentives to buy than just upgrade pricing that’s considered too high. There are bundle deals which become attractive when new versions of ViewPoint and FilmPack are released. (A new ViewPoint might arrive this fall, or not.) There are also Black Friday sales which meet or exceed the bundle savings.
I use PhotoLab since version 7 and upgraded every version. Now I am on version 9 and maybe will only upgrade on Black Friday deal.. For me this DxO upgrade model is an absolutely greedy one. Because for example Steinberg Cubase Pro (DAW) costs new license for almost 600EUR, BUT every year upgrade price to new version costs 99EUR and there are 40-50% upgrade discount prices two times a year, so you can buy upgrade for 59EUR!! BlackMagic DaVinci Resolve Studio price policy is even much better - buy only ONCE for 300EUR and absolutely ALL next upgrades are TOTALLY FREE!!!
With all my respect, but DxO price and upgrade model is just greedy and atrocious. If compare to other software companies - its even just totally horrible.
Indeed. As loyal customer who bought PhotoLab Elite 7, 8, 9, FilmPack 7, 8 and ViewPoint 5 - I honestly don’t feel any ‘‘customer loyalty’’ from DxO at all. DxO is very greedy company in my opinion. And I think that all those new features from PL 7 to 8 to 9 and now in v10 are so small and absolutely not worth that price. I would be okay with upgrade price of 49.99 EUR as a loyal customer. Cmon, Steinberg gives new virtual instruments, new plugins and tonns of workflow improvements for much less money and there are many loyalty vouchers and special offers too for existing customers. DxO gives NOTHING in this regard. Greedy company which only is interested in new customers and all time buys famous Youtuber Photographers to do those insanely awful and stupid reviews which all looks like made from specific guidelines from DxO..
Not true! I upgraded using the bundle discount two years ago via the store. It was only not available during the Black Friday period. Has this now changed?
For a bundle you are right, but as a owner of Photolab I do not look for bundles.
DxO often have 50% offers during the year for every programm (not only on Black Friday), but only for new customer. BTW, you can create a new account …
The thing that makes me laugh with these fake reviews is all the ones I have looked at is use the same imiges that DXO provide in there publicity. You wonder if they do anything other than make small text changes to the stuff the publishers send them. Last year was so clear when 9 hardly ran at all, that non of them noticed this problem but to do so would lose them there money I expect
I agree. I am still on PL5, and now with all the changes from PL6-10, I am considering for the first time to update. Before I never felt it was worth it to spend that much money.
