I just downloaded and ran PL 10.1 for the first time. It now has a separate export button directly to Affinity and it looks like AF also default to saving it in the directory it came from. All very nice for us using both AF and PL.
What I’m missing in PL is to be able to see the AF files in the library. I understand that I could not open an .af file in PL, but it it would have been nice to see them and maybe open them directly in AF from PL’s library.
Totally agree. It is buzzer that PL saves a .af file but do not show them in the Photo Library. Also you need a direct way to reopen the .af file from the same Photo Library. As it the back and forth between the apps is not very convenient. It has also been like that for the Nik integration, so I hope this time DXO will improve this.
I also hope they will add a way to laugh Affinity in a stacking studio (focus stack, pano merge, etc). As it is you can transfer multiple images but they open as separate items in Affinity. I want to get the dialog where I can directly do a merge, else it is not very useful to me. I will not edit images in Affinity, stacking is really what I use it for.
I can understand how frustrating that must be. This is just a suggestion: Use FastRawViewer for viewing all formats and then use it to edit with whatever you like.
Thats kind of a solution… But I dont want to have a third program open and use as a kind mediator in between the apps I work in. Personally, I don’t really need a more advance filemanager than what’s in PL, except I want PL to list all image files in the Photo Library and let me open it in another app if I can’t open it in PL. At least the .af files.
For the future I hope for a lot more integration in between AF and PL.
I agree. I hope with this partnership between the two companies, they can develop a way to at least provide a way view the .af file within PhotoLab. (Same is also true for png files.) This would be a most helpful.
