Been playing around in Windows quite a bit.
The Save settings in sidecar file (.dop) automatically option is responsible for deleting virtual copies and local adjustments such as … (the images belong to @BHAYT)
With Save settings … deactivated
I was able to delete everything and restore it from the trash right after.
