I updated to the newest version of PL two days ago and I’m getting erratic behavior of the incorrect lens modules wanting to load. For instance the lens meta data states that the lens is Pentax smc D-FA 100mm f/2.8 Macro WR which is correct, PL 8.3.0 pops up that it discovered that the lens was a Pentax DA 70-300 instead. I’ve never experienced this craziness before and its happening to several sets of separate Metadata on many of my images. Is anyone experiencing strange behavior like this?
Additionally some optics modules are not showing lens corrections after the image is loaded. This is happening randomly.
Does anyone have any suggestions
I believe the problems with old CPUs prevent installation, due to newer instruction sets not being supported in those CPUs. Are there other known issues related to older CPUs?
I just did a first-time install of PL8.3.0 on my WIn 11 Intel 11th-gen laptop. No problems so far with optics modules or corrections. Seeing that PL8.3.1 just became available, it seems worth uninstalling PL8 and doing a fresh install of the new version. You can download it through the Help / Check for updates function in PL or through your DxO Store account.
My processor is an Intel Core I7 9850H so its not very old. The update notification for PL was new just a couple of days ago as I check for updates every time I open PL on a daily basis, 8.3.0 Build 520 was an update install on the 4th of Feb.
I’ve never done an uninstall and fresh install like you described. I always let the update do the work. Is it worth the uninstall and does it interfere with previous PL settings?
It’s standard procedure to try an uninstall followed by a new install from a fresh download, as an alternative to updating. There’s actually little difference, since an update uninstalls files prior to installing the new build - and no, previous PL settings aren’t interfered with at all. On the contrary, the fresh installation helps ensure that settings are properly rebuilt from previous installs. Once in a while, this helps solve problems. But hopefully 8.3.1 fixes it no matter how you install it.
It’s purely CPU-specific problem. Probably PL8.3.1 Mac version will be released very soon, like updates for affected PR and standalone FP, VP versions.
