Problems with Intel 13th Gen CPU and DxO: Any Advice?

Hi everyone,

I’m having some issues with my Intel 13th Gen CPU while using DxO software. The performance seems inconsistent, and I’m encountering crashes or slowdowns during processing tasks.

Here are the details:

  • CPU: Intel 13th Gen
  • Software: DxO
  • Issue: Performance problems including crashes and slow processing

I’ve checked for updates and made sure my system meets the software requirements, but the issues persist.

Has anyone else faced similar problems with DxO and an Intel 13th Gen CPU? Any advice or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Olivia - Welcome to the DxO users forum …

Did you make specific reference to your problem being (potentially) related to the Intel 13th Gen CPU because you’ve read/heard about stability issues with this chip ?

  • If so, I’d not be quick to make that assumption in your case - because, based on the link you provided, it seems you have a Lenovo device … which is likely to be properly configured.

  • Whereas, the stability issues I’m aware of with the 13th Gen CPU have occurred with custom configured set-ups, using incompatible components - such as too-fast memory, etc.

I suggest firstly looking elsewhere …

  • Which version of PL are you using ? … PLv7 ?

  • How many images are in the folder that you’re working with?
    – If the answer is 100s (or 1000s !!) then that’s likely to be slowing PL down (as it wades thru all those images, applying corrections/presets and rendering results).

  • What were you doing when the crash(es) occurred … Is there any consistency in this ?

  • Do you have a GPU … If so, do you have latest version of drivers installed ?

  • etc

There is an Intel problem with almost all CPUs of the 13th. and 14th. generation of Intel CPUs. Search the web for more details.

You need to update asap your BIOS. You are risking to kill you CPU if you do not do it.

With that BIOS update, all BIOS settings are reset to a standard which you should not change afterwards again. No OC etc. anymore. Especially the voltage the CPU gets.
