During installation of version 5.8 update I get an error message stating that application “wv_1001” needs to be closed before installation can proceed. I am unable to locate any such application on my system.

Looks like a fault in the installer. I suggest reporting it to DxO support (support.dxo.com).

This error appears to be related to the Movistar application. Are you using it ?
I don’t use the application and a search on my computer didn’t show it
Do you get the “ignore” button in that error message window? If so have you tried it?
There have been a couple of “cannot proceed” messages that pop up which can be cleared by clicking “ignore” - I get one every time for a Razer mouse/keyboard driver.
Yes, I did get the ignore button and tried it to no effect. Finally opened a ticket with DXO support and they recommended uninstalling the program and then reinstalling it from the link in my product page. That worked and actually installed the latest version so I’m back on line.
Funny thing is that during the uninstall I got the exact same error message and hit the ignore button……and it worked, allowing the uninstall to work
