PL9 lack of backup feature?

I see no option to backup PL9 database except for Projects, which I seldom use. After spending hours rebuilding the hierarchical keyword structure on one machine, it would be (really) NICE to be able to restore that to the other two licensed machines. I may try copying the 3 database files in the (Mac) hidden library, but I thought earlier versions had a backup and restore feature. I KNOW the .dop files carry the edits regardless of database. Am I missing something?

Here is the option to create and restore a database backup in the Windows version. I have no idea where a similar option would be in the Mac version.

Thanks Mark. Sadly I do not see that option on the Mac Version…

I don’t have a Project Database feature that I can see on my Windows version. What options are available when you select it? Maybe it is just a renamed database feature.

Edit: I just did a little research and I believe the Project Database feature you are seeing is the database. but has been renamed because it also includes project data within it. Perhaps a knowledgeable Mac user can chime in to confirm that.

Yep, it looks like you are right. I guess I was too “literal” to believe that it only applied to “Projects” (since it only refers to “Projects”), but I did try it and it looks (at least initially) that is does as you describe. Funny that the developers couldn’t have labeled it the same as the Windows version. Also, I found no reference to “backup” in the online “Help” manual. Thanks for your help…gary

No problem. I’m not a Mac user myself as I pointed out, but I thought you should at least be aware of what’s in the Windows version. This of course is just one more example of confusing differences between the Windows and Mac versions.

Agreed as to differences between platforms as evidenced by the graphics drivers issues on the Forum. It does seem senseless to me that something as basic as “backup” could not be labeled in a consistent manner…but that will be their “secret”…I suppose. Thanks again…gary
