PL9 and a RTX 4060 8GB

I need to buy a Win 11 capable desktop PC, to replace my ancient Win 10 machine.

Does anyone here have real world experience of running PL9 with a RTX 4060 8GB card? If so, how does it perform?

Thanks

@stuck I’ve got an RTX 3060(12GB) and an RTX 5060Ti(16GB) (and an RTX 2060(6GB)) so I can test those for you but not an RTX 4060(8GB) or any generation of an 8GB GPU.

You need to be more specific about what you are going to be doing with the machine, obviously with PL9 etc… possibly include an image and a DOP with your expected edits to enable testing.

My concern remains with respect to the amount of memory PL9 consumes when handling AI images both for editing and particularly when that is followed by exporting. e.g. edit, export, more editing, more exporting… ad nauseum/ ad infinitum.

The new drivers, 581.57, appears to have made PL9.1 more stable but I see no evidence that it is taking a lot less memory than it did before.

Plus the current build leaves the export worker running for 2 hours (without patching) and that retains the VRAM that it uses for that length of time!

What else might you be doing which consumes VRAM at the same time?

PS:- I do realise that buying GPUs with more memory carry a higher price because they are typically available only on the faster models, i.e. you pay for more VRAM and you pay for the faster processor

Since you don’t have the card I asked about you can’t answer my question but thank you for the prompt response anyway.

Agreed and it is your money and your call.

Bryan

Which is why I asked if anyone here has actual experience of running PL9 with this GPU

Hello. I have a RTX 4060. PL9 works just fine. AI Mask in Local Adjustment is fine, export is fine. No complaints so far. Mind you, I have not tried everything yet:)

Thank you. That’s what I hoped.
