I think the server is very busy;-) I received my survey-mail for photolab from the survey-team two days ago, and today a reminder email.
My FP survey contained questions about VP. Was it in your case too?
BTW, I’ve answered negatively to the question regarding my possible beta testing participation. Firstly, I don’t think I’m typical enough and definitely with not enough background. Secondly, I might have not enough time to devote. However, if DxO would offer some introduction to PL internals, I would have to rethink if I want to suffer. Did DxO provide such technical intro to previous beta testers? I’m used to work under NDA ![]()
same got survey email but as a beginner im not worthy of beta testing status privileges conversely maybe they want a few beginners hobbyists in there who knows
Thanks for teaching me how to make a short post ![]()
DxO wants testers at all levels. Inexperienced users and Beta testers may try applying edits is some unexpected way that more experienced users would not, and as a result inadvertently discover a bug. I have seen it happen more often than you might realize.
That’s what I meant by saying “not typical enough”

That was the story of much of the latter part of my working life. Our IT worked really well until we let real world users use it ![]()
The DXO site is in maintenance, maybe a surprise during the day?
If it’s the release of PL9, it’s earlier and earlier in the year.
What I find amusing is the never ending, or should that be looping, progress bar and the message that has been say “Be ready to find out in a few moments!” for at least two hours ![]()
Could some kind sole remind me - does the upgrade price benefit during the Black Friday sale or is it just the full price that gets a discount?
Thanks.
Colin
Now, that’s a very good question but, from past experience, only DxO might know the answer ![]()
After using DXO Optics Pro / Photolab more than 10 years I can see a certain pattern. DXO has only been interested of their own users about a month after the yearly release - just to correct the worst of their development mistakes - in the best case. After that this dialog-window gets closed for good until next year in September/October when we get a “same procedure as last year James”.
Just chek for yourselves in the end of September/ beginning of October
During the previous Black Friday, the complete versions and the updates have benefited a price reduction.
But as Joanna says, only DXO knows the answer for this year.

Looks like it was exactly this surprise!
Wow!!! At least 4 bugs in 5 minutes ![]()
It is getting expensive as an upgrade - for a tenner more I can get Lr and Lr mobile plus 1TB of cloud storage. Not to mention a continuing stream of upgrades during the year. I guess it all depends on how good this version 9 really is.
So it turns out that we’re all testers! ![]()
I had lots of errors initially when trying to run both PL8 and PL9. Closed and exited PL8 and performance is much better. (Not being a software tester, I may not know where to look
)
Did not identify the subject on attached image and when selecting sky it ignored the bits behind the tree.
Deleted - problem was user error
