Would you call the attached rendering overdone?
Personally, it’s just a bit overdone in terms of local contrast but too flat in general. However, the on-site experience was much stronger. The photo is already few months old and I’m still not sure how to develop it…
Thanks for sharing the stories about the images you captured. Much appreciated. Have time in Norway and want to spend time exploring Sweden.

That war between Norwegians and Swedes has been going on since the Union between Norway and Sweden broke up in the early nineteenhoundreds.

I think they are very good. Your examples are not alone in this tradition. Maybe you have heard of the most famous of Swedish authors August Strindberg? He was also a painter and here you can see his colors:
I knew some Strindberg’s dramas, but I was not aware of his other interests. Looks like he was a “mentally displaced” person, looking everywhere, but never found his harmony. It’s a very shallow description, but that’s what I got from reading his biography and looking at his ‘Landscape Study (1905)’, https://www.rawpixel.com/image/7728634/image-art-public-domain-artworks. Well, it was an experiment, but quite late (he was 56) and you can see him still searching. Interesting combination of FP ‘fine-contrast’ and Nik ‘glow’ (diffused highlights) tools
The original had very high DR span. One of those few cases where strong positive fine-contrast in highlights worked for the clouds (perhaps because they were the only topic).

In the summer the main land is rapidly heated and often in the afternoons we can often see the clouds staying over land and leaving the archipelago sunny and nice. The secons of your last licture could be an example of that it it was taken in the summer.
