Ok to use a "near miss" lens for optical correction?

I use a sigma Emount 24-70 F2.8 DG DN Art ver 2 lens. PL only has the ver 1 lens correction module available. Any ideas about using the ver 1 module on images from a ver 2 lens? Occasionally when PL starts it pops up screen saying the ver 1 module is available and might be applicable to some images.

2nd ques: the ver 2 lens came on in the spring of 2024, any typical wait time for DxO to produce an update for a new lens?

I suggest asking DxO through support.dxo.com about this. However, for what it’s worth I’m in a similar situation. My Panasonic 100-300 f/4-5.6 II lens doesn’t have its own optics modules - only version 1 of the lens has them. But I’m using the version 1 modules with no problems at all. Images look great in PhotoLab, very sharp and clear. So there probably isn’t a need for an update in my case. The modules apply to both versions.

Often a lens revision only brings improved coatings, weather sealing, ergonomics, autofocus, etc. - but not an improved optical formula per se.

My v2 lens has been around for years, and I haven’t seen any replies from DxO about the optics modules. Maybe your v2 lens is new enough that DxO will take an interest in it.

I do that with my very old Olympus ZD 50-200mm. The newer SWD version of the lens which PL recognizes it as, has another focus motor and some other minor changes. I guess the optically must equal as the results are very good!
