DxO software now wants to see a server in order to verify a license. If the time between verifications gets too long, the product stops working. Reconnecting to the server should reset the timer, but if the server is unavailable (for whatever reason), the product doesn’t resume working.
They need to find another, more reliable (for the customer) method.
Hi Joanna - Great photo. Because I have an older Mac, I am using PL6 and pleased with the results. You mentioning FilmPack caught my interest. Will you recommend a FilmPack version that would work with PL6 and my computer? The only version FP I saw that was available is FP7 - not sure if I can use the most current with my setup.
check there, you can shoose Windows or Mac with all version of FP and the minimum requirements.
For anybody curious about Nik Collection 8

The photo is not mine, just my rendering in PL of a photo from the DxO page for Silver Efex.

DxO’s licensing is the same model everyone used before subscriptions became de facto. So it is nothing new. It is nothing deceptive. And it is far superior to subscriptions and in no wat comparable.
The fact that someone might like a cheaper upgrade path (and who wouldn’t) isn’t really relative. DxO is clear about how its licenses work. If someone doesn’t like this they are free to look at other options. But they won’t find anything better. Capture One operates the same way.
