Maginifer Tool not seeing preview screen

Hi am going through a course to learn Photolab I have versions Photolab 6 and 8. The course is using version 7 and it’s showing the magifier tool that allows you to see the effect of the hi quality, prime, deep pime, Deep prime XD/XD2s it shows the effect of each of the options in a preview. My version 8 is not showing this?

Does version 8 still have this?

I just noticed it doesn’t with me too.
PL8 windows 10.

The loupe magnifier has changed in PhotoLab 8. Unfortunately, the user guide doesn’t make this clear. Here’s how it works. Instead of being embedded in the DxO Denoising Technologies palette, the new loupe is a tool that is turned on and off at the top of the image viewer/preview panel. In the Customize tab, you’ll see the usual controls above the viewer. Just to the right of the zoom percentage (magnification), you’ll see an icon that looks like a magnifying glass with a + in the middle. Click on that: the loupe should activate and appear as an overlay in the image viewer. In the bottom left corner of the loupe window is a button that toggles between the smaller size and the larger size. The zoom of the loupe can be changed independently of the zoom of the image preview window. I hope this helps.

Good answer, but simply just press S to turn it on or off.

Thanks for your help I will give that a try.

Sometime the loupe shows it’s busy with calculating, sometime not. If it’s calculating it looks like I’m viewing through a frosted window.

Yes. As with other software I use, PhotoLab doesn’t generate a fully-rendered preview of the whole image. But what it generates is larger than the loupe view can be - so if you drag the loupe around a short distance there won’t be a recalculation. If you go far enough, a new preview must be rendered for the loupe. The preview is blurry until it is rendered properly. I like the new loupe very much.
