I’d love to see this happen, but I don’t think this will ever happen.
it might run most of the world in the server space, because of its small foot print and reliability.
However DXO is not in the server software market and are in the end user market so they don’t have any real incentive to spend time and money in developing for it.
If it was not for the linux community there would be no real end user software on linux, which is a shame but its a fact.
If there was money in selling software on linux, companies would be doing it. I would love for linux to be a real option but it’s just not and will never be until large end user software companies adopt it.
The only real reason Valve are pushing it for games is because their hardware runs linux. So what is needed is some of the big software companies to develop natively for linux and others will eventually follow.
Its a bit of chicken and egg really, until you have software on there that user are use to using linux is not a viable option, but until you have a big enough user base there is no point in developing for it.
I’ve been using Kubuntu since October 2025, and it would be great if DxO PhotoLab could be used here too!
