L'image dépasse la taille... => Bug

I try to process a jpeg picture in DxO but DxO refuses to load the picture with that message

It is false

Have you seen this case ?

Looks like you’re trying to customize a stitched panorama and that PL is reading image dimensions from different and conflicting pages.

Never had this message before…and I usually process images in PL before stitching them.

Nevertheless, please tell us how you created the panorama. Number and size of images, source file format, softwares (and versions thereof) involved etc. This could help to reproduce the issue, specially if you also shared the source images, be it on a cloud drive or service like wetransfer.com.

Another path to understanding might be to examine all of the EXIF data in the JPEG file.

I created with Autopano from 3 pictures. But as far as it is a jpeg picture, DxO has no knowledge of its origin, the virtual image that I can see during processing in Autopano and that is much bigger than jpeg one.
I put the pack on my site ; you can download it here
You will find the 3 ARW and jpeg, the assembled panorama.
I have also made tests with Gimp to suppress the missing area in the sky but export in jpeg format is dramatically bad (suffix m n o).
I have always found Gimp unusable on macOS, either on PowerMacs, Intel Macs or Silicon ; it is desperately slow, ergonomically week and presentation different from PC version, so that tips found on the web are unsuables.

I’m unsure why you are unable to open the image, as I am able to just fine in PhotoLab 9:

You have not mentioned which version of PhotoLab you are using?

checked the dop → 9.2.0.31 (suppose @be51 is on a mac)

No issue on my Mac. All files opened, except for the Pano.dng fromLightroom, but that’s expected. Metadata of the original pano files are without issues imo, but somehow, PL seems to get a wrong idea.

I’d re-download the installer, rename the current PL9 and install PL9 again.

And while at it, I applied some heavy-handed ClearView (haloes) and other tweaks:

I remember experimenting with panoramas some time ago and receiving a “too large” error message, but I didn’t check the specified values. This is strange, as the reported image size (20730px x 7977px) is smaller than the one stated in the error message.

Have been playing with your pictures …

Well, it’s more of a proof of concept than a thorough overhaul.

An alternative would be to replace the sky by a gradient
and turn it into an impressive B&W version à la @platypus.

Thank you for your tests and comments ; many things to say on that subject.

Good question ; Wolfgang is right !
As I have a collection fo different versions, I tried with PL8 and it is able to display the picture.

Correction of a picture with missing sky :

  • usually I made the correction with Retouch
  • but in this case, I wanted to use Reshape, since the sky is homogenous ans without clouds.

I can do it

But… impossible to export

Error message is not informative for me.
Looks like a bug.

About panoramas, you can compare missing sky between Autopano and Affinity.
Autopano is able to use Pannini projection that save most cases and give a more realistic view.

You need to report this to the bug reporting site https://support.dxo.com/hc/fr

Have you tried altering the Cache size in Settings ?

Its not helps. Its only cache the thumbnails and limites size preview (not 1:1 preview).
