Indexing a lot of pictures increases the RAM usage to 32 GB and at the end blocks the PC

I’m trying in PL 8.19 to index pictures on en external SSD (Samsung T9). The total size of the pictures is about 3.2 TB (RAW + JPEG) and there are about 2450 subfolders.

The indexing starts well, but after about 15 minutes the used RAM size increases to the available physical DDR memory (32 GB). A bit later, my display goes black (the power setting are set to never turn of the screen). The only way forward is to reset the PC.
My paging file is set to 16 GB maximum.

Does anyone has a similar experience or a work around?

Your page file is much too small for this situation. I would start with changing that. Can you set the max size to around 100 GB? If not, then at least 64 GB?

Unfortunately, DxO’s indexing process is brutal. It’s improved a bit since it was first introduced - but you’re giving it a really good stress test. Do you monitor CPU and GPU temperatures and voltages as well as RAM usage?

I see the DDR usage steadily increasing in time during indexing. I created a ticket to DXO because I suspect a memory leak.

This issue seems to be specific to PL for Win.

On Mac, Memory remains around 350 MB, CPU around 95 to 98%.
(400 GB scanned, 26 k image files, no sidecars)
