Today while sitting on the bench camera in hand, this little bee was feeding on the Centaurea flowers les than 1/2 metre away. I realised it was not only feeding on the open flowers but also on the developing buds and, as in this photo, on a flower that had gone over. It must have found a residual source of nectar but it was not easy to get at. So instead of rushing around, it was very slow moving and I was able to get several very close up macro shots while it totally ignored me. Very unusual with this bee. I was fascinated how it’s antennae were both pointing at the source where it’s tongue was.

There are similar spent Centaurea flowers in my garden but the weather is not conducive to:
So I won’t be trying to emulate this shot anytime soon

Nice shot. Bees are such wonderful creatures and so important to us.
