I post process raws when I have the low light and high ISO images. The HEIF image format (available on my Sony A7RV and my Fujifilm GFX100S II cameras) supports better color reproduction than jpegs - 10 bits per channel. I am not saying I don’t post process raw - I do when I need to, but increasingly these days, I don’t need to,
Regarding Pure Raw 4 (which I own). I also own PL7 and can use that to process (though it doesn’t have the latest Deep Prime noise reduction model). Pure Raw is cheaper than PL and since I hardly use the editing features of PL why should I pay for them? Pure Raw can export linear DNG files which I can process further if needed - I use Nitro Photo these days when I need to edit the image. The DxO advantage for me is the (I believe) superior raw engine and the noise reduction features - I get those in Pure Raw.
One of my favorite camera books is Gordon Laing’s “In Camera - How to get perfect pictures straight out of the camera”. I don’t have his skill, but it is something to aspire to.
