I noticed the PL10 will now open Sony A7R6 Compressed RAW and Compressed HQ files. It seems to process the HQ files correctly but fails to render the Compressed RAW files properly.

Same problem with the A7R6 Compressed RAW files on PL9.12 as per my previous post for PL10.

Could you add more lens profiles for lenses made by Chinese brands?

@duncang I had a closer look, we indeed have a problem with images of Sony A7R VI shot with these 2 modes :

  • HDR with RAW compressed

  • Noise Reduction with RAW compressed

Other modes are correctly handled:

  • DRO with RAW compressed / HQ

  • DRO with RAW Lossless compressed / HQ

  • HDR with RAW HQ / Lossless compressed

  • NR with RAW HQ / Lossless compressed

  • PixelShift Multi

Any chance that PhotoLab 10 will add the ability to do panorama merges without having to ship DNGs to Lightroom for that? If a cellphone can do it, surely PL could.

Its pretty strange because I just tested again with lossless, HQ and compressed and now PL9.12 is opening all three files perfectly fine.

And then I tested with DRO off and DRO on auto and DRO on Lvl8 and they are all also processed fine.

The only difference is I was using Single Shot this time and not 30fps burst mode.

So now I will test again with burst mode to see if that is for some reason creating different files that PL9.12 can’t read correctly.

Hi Marie - ok so it seems that when I use Single Shot the images are all handled properly by PL9.12 but as soon as I use H+ (30fps) mode then PL9.12 (and I assume PL10) fails to render them correctly.

Note that I am using the identical camera settings and only changing the Drive mode from single shot to H+ which I have set to 30fps. This only seems to be happening when using the Compressed RAW format.

I will now test with slower fps to see if they too are not able to be processed properly by PL9.12.

I hope this help the team figure out the problem.

At this stage I don’t care about HDR or NR with Compressed RAW - I care about 30fps with Compressed RAW - so perhaps they can prioritise that first.

OK I just tested with Drive Mode Lo and can confirm that the problem seems to be with any files taken using any of the Continuous shooting modes.

It is probably the same issue with HDR and NR files which I believe are also probably taken in a Continuous shooting mode.

Marie - I think the common theme here might be that these are all 12bit files not 14bit files. Possibly Sony does something weird with the 12bit data in the RAW file.
