Deleting images from the filmstrip, and choosing what to process

Couple of questions.

Sometimes while processing I run across an image I don’t want to mess with until later and want to remove it from the DxO view. If I delete it using the pop-up menu it gets moved to the recycling bin. Is there a way to remove a file from the filmstrip in DxO without deleting it from the computer?

Second question: Along the same lines, sometimes I want to export some images in a folder but work on others later. Is there a way (other than Ctrl+Click) to choose just the images I want to export? The red and green or ratings maybe?

You could use the Ratings option. Use 5 stars for the best images and maybe 4 stars for the ones to work on later then filter them out of the film strip using the filter option.

You could also use the EXIF/IPTC fields and then search for the ones that contain certain words.

Use the same process for export, using searches and filters to show only those images that your are ready to export then CTRL-A (Mac) to select all the images and then hit the Export key.

My workflow:

  1. Use the Pick (Green) to select the images I want to work on.
  2. Once all images have been selected then I use the filter to just show the Picked images with no rating.
  3. As each image is edited I set the Rating to 5, this causes that image to disappear from the filmstrip.
  4. When all images are done I change the filter to show Picked + 5 stars.
  5. Select All.
  6. Export

Thanks. Once I found the filters it all makes sense!

Yes. When an image is tagged as Red, it will not export even if inadvertently selected in the batch export.

Greetings,

You can also create a project and group photos you want to process without moving them from their original location. The project dialog appears in the left pallet if you have it set to display.

Thanks. This will require a bit of investigation, but sounds like it’s worth looking into.
