Cropping: Square not always square

You can check/uncheck the edits as long as you DO NOT rely on “Advanced History”, which I do not because I don’t think it’s usable. It’s not very advanced and probably only exists because Photoshop has a History panel. I would appreciate someone telling me how the “Advanced History” palette fits into a workflow. If you decide to go to an older state you lose all the edits after that one.

  • It IS good for “Listing all corrections of all images for reference”.
  • I don’t think I’ve ever needed this feature: “Enabling comparison between one image to another by comparing histories”.
  • I don’t understand this, it might be useful for some people: “Performing before/after comparisons at all stages of correction, for example, to find the most appropriate settings for a particular tool or combination of tools”.
  • There is something that is interesting, but works for Mac only: Advanced History includes detail edits that make up a Preset.

All edits are done based on the actual result of the image.
Let’s say I do a and want to correct that result with doing b and that result gives me the idea of doing c. Undoing the edit a in the history list will take away the reason to do b and c.
It’s not clear to me how edits are done in the software. This counts for all raw converters I think.
