I have upgraded to Photolab 9 and now can’t save RAW files that I have worked on to cloud storage. The folders are visible in Photo Library but files cannot be drag and dropped there. This worked ok with versions 7 and 8, it’s just with v9. I thought it might be caused by updating to macOS Tahoe, however I can still drag and drop files in v7 and v8. Exporting files as JPEGS works fine with cloud storage, but I want to store the RAW file there as well. Any ideas on this please?
Are you trying to drag them into a folder listed under the Favorites tab ? If so, try dragging them into the folder listed under the Folders tab instead
You might need to reindex the folder, after you have dragged the files into it.
Also check that PL9 has the same permissions to the disk/folder that the previous versions had.
Thank you for your replies and suggestions.
Yes, exactly that - drag to iCloud folders under Favorites. I can drag files to the folders under the Folders tab, however the iCloud folders aren’t listed there and I can’t see how to add them.
Checked that again and the permissions are the same. Actually the permissions for all three versions show local and removable locations, there is no option for cloud storage. That didn’t affect PL7 or 8 though.
What tool are you using for cloud, is it Dropbox or iCloud or something else ?
Something else to try; navigate to the Cloud folder in Finder, select an image in that folder, right click and open in PhotoLab. Maybe opening a file inside that folder in this way may allow PL to see the folder and add it to the folders tab.
I am using iCloud. The folders I have added under the Favorites tab are the iCloud folders.
I did this. Right clicking on a file stored in a folder on iCloud using Mac Finder shows PL9 is the default option. I can right click on an iCloud file in Mac Finder, open it in PL9, edit it in PL9, create a virtual copy etc. and all that gets saved as an updated file in iCloud. However, the iCould folder still doesn’t appear under Folders in PL9, the only locations under Folders in PL9 are “Devices” and “Shared”. Under “Devices” is my Mac HD and any external media connected (e.g. SD card). There is nothing under “Shared”.
Back in PL9, I can do the same as using Mac Finder. In PL9 Photo Library I can open a file stored in an iCloud folder listed under Favorites, edit it in PL9 Customise and all that is saved. What I cannot do in PL9 is:
- Drag and drop files from any location under PL9 Folders > Devices into any folder under PL9 Favorites.
- Drag and drop files between folders in PL9 Favorites.
I can:
- Drag and drop a file from any folder under PL9 Favorites into any folder under PL9 Folders > Devices.
I thought this issue was about a permissions setting, but the above shows PL9 Photo Library must have read and write access to the iCloud files under Favorites. Having worked through the above, I am puzzled why in PL9 I can drag and drop files from folders under Favorites to folders under Devices>Folders but not the other way round?
I think you found a bug; the iCloud device should be showing in devices or folders. I suggest opening a request at support.dxo.com for resolution.
Ok will do. Thank you for your help with this.
DxO hasn’t played well with apples virtual storage and offloading into iCloud.
It would be great if they could look into that a bit deeper.
I’m on 9.40 Build 587 on W11 and there is NO 9.4.1.38 offered to me. What’s wrong?
It’s probably for the Mac version
