Because ICE lets me choose from various projections, whereas unless I’m missing it, AFP panorama just does whatever it does. I can still use all of AFP’s tools by opening the ICE created panorama in AFP.
I realise that but I’m happy to carry on using it until it does die.
For now the Affinity projection suits me. Exotic projections aren’t something I need at this point when creating panoramas. Sometimes the right choice is better than more choices. Still, I’m certain there’s more controls there in the Affinity panorama tool than I’ve been able to figure out.
Not sure I need them either but if you use ‘stereographic’ you can bend a 360 pano into a circle, e.g. this one taken in the arena at Pompeii:

Another vote for Affinity photo, for me at least it perfectly complements DXO photolab
I used to use Photoshop and Lightroom, when I got DXO 5 I also bought Affinity 1, for some things such as image focus stacking of macro images it was actually better than Photoshop
