Neither do I and I believe that “Essential” should have gone the way of the dinosaurs a long tome ago!
I believe that the product without ‘Fine contrast’ in particular is well and truly “hobbled”, luminosity masks I have managed without so could continue to do so but I would rather pay for what I use than be forced to pay for a complete product which I simply have no use for!
But I would like DxO to stay around a bit longer and they seem to feel that they need to “rip the users” off with this incredibly “cunning” ruse, about as cunning as a sledgehammer.
It causes no end of bad feeling with the users so a compromise was what I was suggesting!
I understand your logic - I just feel that it still keeps the door open for misleading pricing and marketing, because most likely people will find out about needing to pay for these missing features after they already purchased Photolab. So a different version of the existing problem, just with a lower price tag.
Offer 2 (or even 3?) tiers of the software with a clear comparison shown at the place of purchase, so people know what they are buying, or missing out on, before they make the big investment and realize later that functions are missing. It’s more about clear, honest pricing and marketing tactics, and avoiding cheap tricks to get a few extra dollars from users.
@brendxn Although I should have ignored this message until after I had finished doing my blood pressure readings, it was fine and I agree with what you are saying.
For one reason or another some new users have been surprised at was is or is not included in the product and that does not endear DxO to a new users “heart” and I need to be careful with my reaction to my feelings for DxO’s “strategy”, especially when doing my BP readings!!
Nice product shame about the …, oops there goes my blood pressure again!
A few bucks I don’t mind but paying for a whole new product is just taking the …
