NEF file closes Photolab
« on: November 01, 2018, 05:27:02 am »
Some months ago I posted this problem - my laptop computer closes when saving an NEF file after modification  (all it needs is to apply PRIME).
It was suggested I download a 'clean' new version of Photolab - which I did -  no improvement.
I then downloaded a 'clean new' version of Windows 10 Home - which I did - no improvement.
I the tried other 'raw' processors - no improvement.
So I suspect it is my machine - an i7 Dell laptop  (my desktop machine is fine).
Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
Regards
Mike

Hi Mike,

Some advice to investigate the reason of crash.
- Have a look on the log file, which will be finished at the last successful action. It is 'c:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\Documents\DxO PhotoLab 2 logs\DxO.PhotoLab.txt'.
- The DPL2 use a new format for sidecars. All previous version should cause crash if such a file is existing. Delete or move them from this folder.
- Generally, DPL is read only the files, never write, therefore the file is unchanged. Load same file to Photo ME EXIF reader ( free to download ). If it open correctly, the file is perfect.
- Last, a previous modification entry spoiled the Database. Move the file to any other folder and open there.
