Where does PL store metadata? Is it in the dop file or is a separate xmp file used?

Never have seen PL writing XMPs. It optionally reads XMPs to transfer some stuff from raws to output files, but nothing more.

Maybe it caches something of it in the proprietary format in the PL database afterwards, which can optionally be written out to proprietary DOPs. But there is no way, I know off, to get your metadata in a universal format from the data base. Would not rely on PL to manage metadata.

First DPL store metadata in a database and then in a dop file.

This is my metadata architecture:

I preffer sync option 1. The PL database is not needed and I would disable it, if it was possible.
