Benchmarks on a 2017 rMBP
« on: June 30, 2017, 03:49:29 pm »
Hi, has anyone got a 2017 MacBook Pro they are running DXO optics on?
I currently flip between a 3 year old i5 8GB ram MBP and a 5 year old i7 8GB Windows 10 PC.  Both take roughly a minute per photo to export (PRIME NR) - these are olympus em1 mk1 and pen-f files.

I'm interested in understanding how much of a jump an i7/16gb ram new MBP will give me in terms of real world numbers.

Thanks in advance...

Not much. Prime takes ages even on top notch hardware.

I can help you out.   I have a mid 2017 rMBP 15 2.9 / 512gb with the 560 4 gb gpu.   Have u any sample files you can share?   If they can be attached or email / messaged or linked etc I'd be happy to measure the results.

Example with 20 MP RX100V files.   Might be close to your Olympus files?

7s RAW HQ

34s RAW Prime

I guess there are a number of variables.   Sometimes JPEGs get DXOed in 1 second per the program.

..and some of the Prime Raws just over 20 seconds that I saw.   Might have to look into it further.   But at least you can get a sense?

Did a night shoot last night...so ran 'em all thru Prime.   Average of 3 images every 60 seconds.   Plus various crops, filmpack, several adjustments.   So that is a decent idea of the 2017 rMBP handling prime fwiw.
